March 8, 1973 was a high school freshman and never got to see Pigpen in real life, and so am very, very appreciative of recordings such as this gem. This show is all sparkly and hard ridin'. Just sitting at my desk, minding my own business and listening on a a laptop, my heart suddenly stopped and I lost all sense of time and space with The Stranger > Ramblin Rose > Me and My Uncle > Goin' Down the Road. Pigpen is so righteous yet laid back, Jerry's strummin' is smooth as silk, Bob is crazy-sexy-fierce in his full glory, the drums are so tight just right, its the whole package...and so now I got to fill out my Pigpen file. This technology is so amazing. Back in the day, you had no idea the bootlegs would ever be beat, and just listen where we are today. I love archive.org and the Grateful Dead Forum. Thank you all with all my heart and soul.

the mix, recording, performance, transfer, & "dance-ability".
Pigpen's performance of "The Stranger (Two Souls In Communion)" is classic Pigpen, and the band knows the changes...NYC crowds 'LOVED' Pigpen. I highly recommend adding this NYC show to your 1972 GRATEFUL DEAD collection. It's a "Must Have" show. NYC crowds always brought out the best in the GRATEFUL DEAD. I recommend using your EQ during playback of most of the shows on the IA, this one included. Windows Media Player has a 10 band EQ and SRS WOW effects that enhance the sound. Solid, "In the Pocket" performances of all our favorite 72' songs with Pigpen and Keith. Here's one way to download this show: The IA recommends users of Windows XP view this web-page with RealPlayer. RealPlayer is a free media player you can download at www.realplayer.com. For easy streaming or downloading you should use RealPlayer. Using RealPlayer to view this webpage, click the VBR M3U link to open the songs in the Playlist. If your Playlist is not open, open it by clicking the Playlist icon at the lower right hand corner of RealPlayer. Once the songs are in the Playlist, double click the song to play it, then click the record button at the lower left hand corner of Realplayer to record it. When the red line reaches the other end click the stop button to download the song. Your song is in the RealPlayer Downloads folder. Repeat these steps for each song. Eat, Drink, Be Merry and Listen to the GRATEFUL DEAD. Thanks for the LOVE from 1972. PS: Get em' while you can, get em' while they're free, get em' now or you'll be sorry...the Man giveth and the Man taketh away...WTTW PSS: Thanks Joe.
